“Opportunities begin when you want them to!” – Futurist Jim Carroll

I often hear people speaking about missed opportunities.

I don’t get it.

What did they miss? The opportunity, or the timing, decision-making, courage, and determination that goes with it?

In most cases, it’s the latter.

It’s all up to you, and not anyone else. So what are you going to do today? That’s the mindset that you need to be in!

People succeed by focusing on the opportunities of the future rather than looking at the challenges of the past – it’s all about a series of choices. A choice to chase the future rather than the past. A choice to accept the changes occurring around you rather than fighting them, in order to turn them into potential rather than a threat. A decision to improve yourself each and every moment by focusing on new knowledge and new thinking. A willingness to adapt faster to faster change, rather than staying the same old mindset.

It’s a decision whether to go through the open door that is in front of you.

That sounds cliche, but at the very moment I was writing this quote this morning, this fellow approached the back gate to our property.

Someone left the gate open!

If you find a door to opportunity, chase it.

If someone leaves a gate open, go through it.

The deer did!

A young deer, maybe a year old, in search of the hostas and peonies that line the back of our yard

Apparently, they are a delicacy to deer, like candy.

It’s still out there as I start to finish up this post, having the most wonderful breakfast.

Good thing we have a massive backyard renovation happening to prepare for our pool installation; all these plants are coming out anyway! And I would probably be in some trouble!

If you see an opportunity, go for it!

An open door? Go through it! An open gate! Enter it!

Faced with a choice, it went for it.

What a wonderful morning!
